VITAMINS FOR THE MIND by Ron Reynolds #3721 (Friday, January 9, 2015) Do Your Best In one of his speeches to the people of England during World War II, Prime Minister Winston Churchill said – referring to the leaders of Nazi Germany – “Do your worst and we shall do our best.” You will have days – both in life and in AdvoCare – when it will seem as though the worst that can be thrown at you is being thrown, even by those who you would expect to appreciate you, believe in you, and support you. I’ve had many such days as I moved through my youth in search of a better life for myself and my family; there were days when I was ready to accept the fact that ‘the end of my life’ would be exactly as the present, with no rewards, no hope and no specific and defined purpose for my being. But in spite of those moments – or days, or even series of such days – I managed to hang onto at least a glimmer of conviction that I was experiencing the ‘worst of days’ because I was somehow being prepared for something that, in some very special moments, I could catch a glimpse of, and I would feel a flash of conviction that would keep me believing. But, there were also moments – some very short moments - in which I lost that vision and that conviction and felt the need to surrender my vision and embrace the advice from others to ‘stop dreaming’ and stop ‘trying to be something or someone that you’re not.’ I suspect that many if not most all AdvoCare Distributors have had the same feelings, the same moments, and the same inclination to give up and turn back and to be grateful for what they have. In our current age, with so much pessimism and doubt and ridicule of once-sacred things surrounding us, being ‘grateful for what we have’ is a growing trend. Even our own government keeps passing their ideas into laws that govern human thought and conduct to the extent that a growing number among us have resigned themselves to waiting for government to come to our rescue; they do so as they ignore the old admonition that tells us “The government that seeks the power to give us all that we need also has the power to take all that we currently have.” If, however, you look around the world of AdvoCare and at the quality and the convictions of the people who are joining us and building their business as they engage in the process of building the quality of the life of others, you’ll see that the heart and the spirit of America and all that our founders envisioned that it should be is still very much alive. There are thousands of Distributors who not that long ago had little if any hope but who now have finally captured the very substance of their nearly lost dreams who have risen from the ashes of hopelessness and are moving toward financial security. But they are doing so much more than merely that; they have engaged in and embraced a purpose in life that enables them to hold their head high and march toward the future with confidence, with pride and with conviction. That’s what happens when you continue to ‘do your best.’ The views expressed on this post are those of Ron Reynolds and do not necessarily reflect the views of AdvoCare.
