VIVA OBAMA! From health care reform to the Womens Fair Pay Act to overturning DADT and now this, the First Tiki President consistently uses his legal authority to actually help the disenfranchised and forgotten fringes of our supposedly compassionate society, despite unprecedented efforts to derail his historically progressive agenda. Though Im a straight, middle-aged white guy with health insurance (for now) and none of this directly impacts my own life, thats exactly why I voted for him (twice), because the way I see this country and world, its not all about ME, its about EVERYBODY (my definition of liberal, which I am, proudly). Tonights moving speech boldly defied not the Constitution (executive orders like these have plenty of precedent, including many Republican presidents, look it up), but the entrenched opposition that has continually stalled and blocked all previous attempts to address this important issue for coldly political reasons, without offering any sincere alternatives (same as health care reform). It also provided one more reason Monica Cortes Viharo and I love and will continue to support this guy, especially given the makeup of the incoming Congress (which as liberals interested primarily in the Arts has absolutely nothing to offer us, anyway).
