VKRSU---SCHOOL TOUR/INSPECTION The VK Range Students’ Union (VKRSU) conducted its area/range School Tour/Inspection within its jurisdiction from 18th-30th October last and covered at least ten Government schools and two private schools in their 12-day long tour. The union briefed and interacted with the authorities concerning the infrastructure, discipline, teacher-student ratio, maintenance funds, implementation of CCE and various other activities of the school curriculum. The touring team headed by its President Toino Wokhami, further interacted with the students’ community, teachers, administrations etc and took note of their grievances. GHS VK Town-- the lone high school under VK Area/Range was established long before in 1986 (28 years), but has been functioning with shortage of 2 (two) teachers and poorest infrastructure since its inception disclosed the visiting team. Several appeals notes and documents has been submitted to the concerned department/government but no positive outcome had been initiated and all appeals had turned to deaf ears, lamented the VKRSU. “The school building has never been renovated since its establishment and is in a very pathetic condition with broken windows; doors and desks; rooftops and ceilings rotting away; floor and corridors broken to pieces and even classroom walls have vanished with time” rued the VKRSU visiting team. Both the teachers and students have been facing untold hardship for years and the also learnt that GMS Sasta Village and GMS VK Town have been functioning with shortage of subject teachers such as-- Maths, Science and English. It further cautioned the school authorities under its jurisdiction not to misuse the allotted funds but utilize it properly and wisely for the welfare and benefit of students community and for the smooth functioning of institutions. VKRSU further urge the concerned department to look into the ailing situation with vivid seriousness and intervene at the earliest, failing which the union shall be compelled to take its own course of action.
