VO The 11th China -ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) kicks off INTRO: The 11th China -ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO), a major event held in the starting year of China-ASEAN Diamond Decade, was inaugurated at Nanning International Convention and Exhibition Centre, Guangxi, China on 16 Sep. STORY: Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli, Lao Vice President Bounnhang Vorachit, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, , Myanmar Vice President U Nyan Tun, Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Tanasak Patimapragorn and Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh attended the opening ceremony. Under a theme Jointly Building the 21st -Century Maritime Silk Road, Over 80 booths are exhibiting products made in Lao PDR, mainly furniture, household utensils, handicrafts, agricultural products, foods, and soft drink. The function was opened by the Vice Premier of China Zhang Gaoli who said that the 11th CAEXPO was largest forum for business investment in ASEAN region. The Lao delegation aims its participation in the CAEXPO at promoting and publicizing internationally its culture, traditions, products and external relationship and cooperation under China - ASEAN framework. The number of booths taken by foreign exhibitors accounts for 42 per cent of the total, the proportion of which is relatively high in large-scale exhibition in China. The number of booths for ASEN countries and countries outside the China-ASEAN region reaches 1,259. Six ASEAN countries are namely Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.
