VO The Cambodian Prime Minister and Vietnamese Prime Minister arrived in Vientiane for the 8th Summit CLV DTA from November 24 to 25, 2014. INTRO: Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung arrived in Vientiane for the 8th Summit of Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam on the Development Triangle Area (CLV DTA) scheduled to take place today, Tuesday the 25th of November STORY: Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen was welcomed at Wattay International Airport by Laos’ Minister of Justice Bounkeut Sangsomsak, Senior offcials from MOFA and the Cambodian Ambassador to Laos The Cambodian Premiere accompanied by Commerce Minister Sun Chanthol, Transport Minister Tram Iv Tek, Education Minister Hang Chuon Naron, and other members of the Cambodian government. He leads a high delegation to attend the 8th CLV (Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam) Summit on Development Triangle Area slated for Nov. 24 and 25 in Vientiane, the capital city of Laos. The participation is made at the invitation of Lao Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong, CLV Development Triangle Area plan is aimed at economic growth, poverty reduction, social and cultural progress in the triangle area, which comprises 13 provinces including four in Cambodia, four in Laos, and five in Vietnam. At the invitation of Prime Minister of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Thongsing Thammavong, Vietnam Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung is heading the Vietnam delegation to the High level meeting of the Vietnam – Laos – Cambodia Development Triangle Area inVientiane from November 24 to 25, 2014. Prime Minister Dung was welcomed at Wattay International Airport by Laos’ Minister of Justice Bounkeut Sangsomsak, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos, Nguyen Manh Hung, and Vietnamese people living in Laos. The 2-day event is significant for improving living conditions for the people in the Development Triangle. It aims to contribute to the Mekong subregion’s stability and prosperity and toward the formation of the ASEAN community by 2015. This is an important regular meeting between the three countries, which reinforces the ceaseless efforts to promote co-operation towards building a united and prosperous ASEAN Community by 2015. Prime Minister Thongsing on Monday also hosted a banquet dinner for the two visiting prime ministers and their delegations. It is noted that, Relationships spanning all fields between Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia have recently been developed and cemented. The Development Triangle Area is an important mechanism to ensure political stability and social safety in the border areas of the three countries. Co-operation between 13 border provinces has also been established and has recorded significant achievements in their countries’ development. Border trade has also been promoted, and procedures for border trade are being simplified. Vietnam’s border provinces are determined to deepen trade relations with Laos and Cambodia through various friendship exchanges, opening trade relationships, and improving the border gates’ effectiveness with Laos and Cambodia. Established in 1999, the DTA is aimed at ensuring security along the three countries shared border, accelerating economic growth, alleviating poverty, and promoting social and cultural progress. The provinces that fall within the triangle area are Cambodias Steng Treng, Rattanakiri, Mondulkiri and Kratie; Laos Saravan, Xekong, Attapeu and Champassak; and Vietnams Gialai, Daclac, Dacnong, Kontum and Binh Phuoc.
