VODAFONE Fiji 7s coach Ben Ryan has revealed maestro Waisale Serevi is part of his plan leading up to the 2016 Olympic Games. With Ryan in charge of the Fiji 7s team until the Rio Games in Brazil, he is eyeing the former national coach and skipper to add strength to the team. Serevi assisted Ryan and the team in their first outdoor training session in preparation for the Hong Kong 7s at the La Salle College ground in Kowloon, Hong Kong yesterday. Ryan said it was great to have him on the pitch with the boys. I love to have him with the boys, Ryan said. He is motivational, hes been there and done that and he understands where the boys have come from. As much as I like to think I understand them, Im not Fijian. I havent come from one of the small villages. We have our different stories. I think the way he connects with the boys off the field is great. He is in my plans going forward for the strength of the team. Im sure that we will see a lot more of him. Serevi, who is in Hong Kong with his Serevi Rugby team to hold camps for children, was thrilled with the opportunity to help the team in the buildup to the Hong Kong 7s this weekend. The US-based businessman has openly indicated his interest in helping the Fiji 7s team in the lead-up to the Rio Games. We are looking forward to Fiji creating another history this weekend. I believe its not impossible, it will be tough but its not impossible, Serevi said. It comes down to the team that wants to win more. I believe that the boys here know how important this is for Fiji. We can lose all the tournaments but to win the Hong Kong 7s, its a good 12 months for us. We have a good chance. It now depends on the boys. I see the boys are having fun in training which is really good and Im asking for prayers and the support of people back home for a great weekend of 7s.
