VOICE OF AGONY PROGRAM KYOGA VERITAS 91:5FM WED-6TH-NOV-2013 TIME-10:00PM-12:00AM (studio contact: 0785-161021/0756-915915) PRODUCER: PETERSON MATEEKA It can be disturbing to note that in some countries especially Africa, government categorizes certain professions as more important than others. And as such pay a certain category of professionals more than others. It creates divisions among the country’s professional workforce. Some professionals prosper faster than the others. The class that enjoys this kind of privilege may also undermine other fellow professional in other fields. They feel financially and materially more superior to the rest. In my opinion, whichever profession one is, it’s a talent given from God and each of them is important. When we combine the different talents together, we form a team to propel the Nation for prosperity. But for whatever reasons why divisions come in, I don’t know. After my high school, all I wanted to be was a teacher. Though my family members discouraged me that the teaching profession does not pay well and I should have gone for another one. But I stood firm and told them, the profession am taking on is not all about me getting money. I feel It’s my passion and the only a talent God has given me to be a teacher. No matter how much it will pay me, it’s all I need. I joined PTC in 2007, but during time of dong my promotional exams I got problems with my sight. In the hospital It did not respnd. The eye doctor to refer me for divine intervention. I went to Church and they prayed for me. I got well and decided to become saved up today. All through college I received advances from all classes of men both gentle and Talibans. But I made sure I finished the course before opening my heart to any of them. Thanks to God I have achieved my dream and today am a teacher in active service. My first boyfriend came from Lira while my home district is Kumi. That’s quite far apart. When he wanted to come for introduction, I told my parents about it. They discouraged me from marrying too far from home, given the fact that they are aged. They wanted me to marry near such that in future if they needed my help I would reach them easily.I respected their opinion because I needed a marriage with their blessings behind it. I had to end the relationship with the Lira man. I remained patient waiting for the next man at least coming from Teso region. And indeed the second man came seriously proposing to marry me. He took my heart; but the problem with this second man is that he has been married for some time and even wedded. But the wife broke the vow they made in church during and took on another man leaving three children behind. The church and family members tried hard to reconcile them but the woman refused and went off with another man. I investigated till I heard from all people in the area that his wife was the one who was on the wrong.Infact they told me she used to like sweet pain too much and could have contributed to her breaking the church vow she made for wedding. I have almost made up my mind to settle with this man. But I told him that I would wish to be wedded in our marriage. The man said, it may be difficult because he had already wedded with the mother of his children before they broke. He doubted whether the church can allow especially being born again. There are fears that this woman having left behind three children, in future she might get old and make U turn that after all am wedded, and decides to come back claiming to keep her children. This may turn out to be a big inconvenience to my marriage at that time when it will have even matured. And yet I also wouldn’t wish to get married to him without wedding me. What can I do?
