I have been informed of your desire to have General Clement Sinkamba contest the position of President of Zambia Rugby Union. Having worked with Clement Sinkamba as President of Zambia Rugby Union a tenure which was cut short by his posting into the Diplomatic Mission ,I can say that he is pragmatic, focused, disciplined, reliable and above all very pleasant to work with. He is a person who believes in getting things done. During his tenure, rugby in Zambia flourished, it had maximum support from IRB and CAR and other stake holders in Zambia. He ensured participation of Zambia at each and every tournament under the CAR calendar at all levels National Men’s Team, Under 19 and the Men’s and Women’s 7s. Back home in Zambia he organized successful Castle International 7s and I do recall Zambia hosting a successful CAR National 7s and because of this consistence Zambia’s rating was high. General Sinkamba abided by CAR regulations and ensured that IRB developmental funds were put to purposes it was intended for .The growth rates for Youths and schools rugby were significantly high and actively funded. He personally took charge of the women’s rugby to ensure that it found its place in rugby. To manage events of international statue Gen Sinkamba attracted a web of sponsors from the corporate who like us still hold him in high esteem. I wish to reiterate that we at CAR have faith in his leadership qualities and his ability to turn things round. During our meetings he positively contributed and came up with several alternative causes of action very typical of the Military. I have no doubt that leadership qualities that we see in him are the reasons for his successes. General Sinkamba in short is an asset to rugby and we welcome him with open hands.
