VP Sambo’s wife wants women’s inclusion in devt The wife of the Nigerian Vice President, Hajia Aminat Namadi Sambo has called for more inclusion of the Nigerian women in social and developmental efforts. Hajia Sambo made the call while speaking as the Distinguished Guest of Honour at the 2014 Annual Women’s week programme hosted by the Women’s wing of Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society (NASFAT) in Mowe. Represented by Hajia Aishat Tukur, the wife of the nation’s Number Two citizen said the world today believed in the ability of women folk in developmental issues. “This year’s theme; “Muslimah: Making a Difference!” is an example of the organisation’s choice that is always spot on and very relevant to the realities of the day. The world today is convinced that the active participation of women leads to the development of a peaceful and just society,” Hajia Sambo said. She further encouraged NASFAT to sustain the tempo of mobilising women for the greater good of the society, saying as Muslimah, they had many role models like Nana Khadijat, Nana Aishat, Summaya, among others to follow. Earlier in her address, NASFAT National Women Affairs Secretary, Alhaja Nofisat Arogundade said it had become expedient for the women folk to always make a difference in their dealing because it was an obligation ordained by Islam. Arogundade said through their little efforts women in the organization had provided scholarship for female students of Fountain University, empowerment programmes for women, women mentoring initiative, interface with youths, sensitisation about Ebola and other diseases, among others.
