VSU Athletics: The good news keeps coming! On Sunday, November 16 the NCAA Division II Football Committee announced Virginia State University Trojans as the number 3 seed in Super Region One. The Trojans will play host to the number 6 seed the Pioneers of Long Island University-Post of Brookville, N.Y. Kick-off is slated for noon on Saturday, November 22 at Rogers Stadium on the VSU campus. With the highest GPA in the CIAA, VSU Athletes are committed on the field, on the court in the classroom and in the community. Before the Game VSU Football Team do community service: Although the Virginia State University football team were preparing for the 2014 CIAA Football Championship, they spent time with students from Y.E. Smith Elementary on Friday morning, the day before the big game. Many students from the second, third and fifth grade classes got a chance to interact with the Trojans. The team spoke to the classes about being good students and athletes, and gave advice on putting academics first and the importance of teamwork. From science class to gym class, the football team left a lasting impression on the students. At the end of the visit several fifth grade students wished the team good luck in the upcoming coming championship. Letisha Judd, principal of Y.E. Smith Elementary, was overjoyed with the visit.
