VVIP CULTURE Dear Friends, Our Holy Father Pope Francis is a great example for discontinuing with VVIP culture. He is not staying in a papal palace but in a hostel where priests, bishops and some of the Cardinals also reside. Also, he mingles freely with the people. As a Bishop and Cardinal in Argentina, he would travel in a simple manner and not maintain a separate kitchen for himself. Therefore I was impressed by the TV channel discussion against VVIP culture. In truth the whole nation belongs to the people. It is the people who are sovereign in our country. However, ministers and bureaucrats and people holding important public offices go about enjoying special privileges which they think are their right. As a result there is so much expenditure of public money and also inconvenience to the public. Some people think that the higher they go with regard to political and public offices; others have to bow to them and be at their disposal to offer them all kinds of services. Actually, democracy should promote true equality and brotherhood but it is not so in our country, where there is so much VVIP and VIP culture. It is also to be borne in mind that sometimes the people at the top are simple and humble. It is only the people around them who make too much fuss and push people around.
