Va. school nurse did not report rape privateofficer Craig County VA Aug 12 2013 As the Craig County school nurse, Trena Boudreaux failed to report the rape of a student, state regulators allege. Boudreaux, a registered nurse, did not report the incident to school officials, county officials or the student’s parents, according to a notice from the Virginia Board of Nursing. The notice of a hearing on the disciplinary charge states that Boudreaux may have “neglected the health and well-being of the student.” No details about the date, place or other circumstances of the rape are included in the notice. County school superintendent Kelly Wilmore said Boudreaux is no longer employed by the school system. As for the details, “our situation with our former nurse is a human resources matter, and I am unable to comment,” he wrote in an email. Calls to the sheriff’s office and commonwealth’s attorney were not returned Friday. Craig County Administrator Richard Flora said he was not aware of the disciplinary charges involving the rape of a student. “It’s a bit of a surprise,” Flora said, “because I’ve known Trena Boudreaux for quite a long time, and I always thought she did things by the book, especially when it comes to something like that.” Boudreaux, a former member of the county school board, declined to comment Friday except to briefly dispute the allegations. “I’d like to be able to tell you the truth and the whole story, but I can’t at this time,” she said. An official with the state Department of Health Professions, which includes the Board of Nursing, declined to elaborate on the brief summary of charges that appears on the notice, which was recently mailed to Boudreaux’s New Castle home. A hearing on the administrative charge has been scheduled for Aug. 29 before the Board of Nursing in Henrico. A second charge brought by state regulators alleges that between 2009 and February 2013, Boudreaux obtained blood samples from “numerous students” without a physician’s order. The samples consisted of finger sticks that were used to check the student’s blood sugar levels, according to the notice. If the board finds sufficient evidence to support the charges, Boudreaux could face a fine, reprimand or suspension of her license. Source- roanoke
