Vacancies Announcement Concern Universal (CU) is an International Non-Governmental Organisation creating opportunities for lasting improvement in peoples’ lives. We work in partnership with District Councils and communities to implement development interventions reaching over 300,000 rural people each year. Over the past twenty years we have gained significant experience across a range of areas including water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH); agriculture; climate change and disaster risk management; microfinance; malaria prevention and control; community mobilisation and capacity building at District, Sub-District and Community level; and cross-cutting work on HIV/AIDS, Gender, Rights and Environment. Our 3 Strategic Objectives for the period 2011-2016 are: 1. Service Delivery: Increased quality and coverage of community focused service provision 2. Reducing Vulnerability: Targeted interventions to enhance community resilience to climate change and increase agricultural production 3. Pro-Poor Growth: Stimulating local economic development and pro-poor growth. CU has entered into a partnership with World Food Programme (WFP) to implement Targeted Food Distribution Program in Thyolo district from January 2014 to March 2014. CU invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following vacancies in the programme: Job Title: Monitoring and Evaluation Officer (1 position) Location: Thyolo Duration of the contract: January 2014 to March 2014 Reporting Relationship Supervision received: District Coordinator Supervision exercised: N/A Job Purpose The Monitoring & Evaluation (M & E) officer shall be responsible for monitoring and evaluation of the project at district level. Key Duties and responsibilities - Manage day to day monitoring and evaluation aspect of the project. - Design monitoring and evaluation tools in line with project objectives and intended outcomes. - Facilitate data collection using onsite monitoring and post distribution monitoring tools. - Data entry, data cleaning, analysis and interpretation and reporting. - Compile project reports in liaison with District Coordinator for submission to the World Food Program (WFP). Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Competencies - Diploma/Degree in Community Development, Agriculture, Health, Social Sciences or other relevant disciplines from a recognized institution. - Experience in research techniques and methodologies for development work. - Excellent interpersonal skills from monitoring and evaluation data - Knowledge in computer operations (word, excel, SPSS) - Good communication, inter-personal and problem solving skill. - Fluency in spoken and written English and Chichewa. Job Title: Logistics Officer (3 positions) Location: Thyolo Duration of the contract: January 2014 to March 2014 Reporting Relationship Supervision received: District Coordinator Supervision exercised: N/A Job Purpose The Food Distribution Officer shall be responsible for all food and cash distribution related activities at the community level. Key Duties and responsibilities - Manage day to day logistics of the project. - Prepare final distribution plan in liaison with District Coordinator. - Liaise with WFP logistics to ensure that food commodities have been timely derivered. - Verify received items by counting the same at every food distribution point (FDP). - Stamp way bills and forward the same to CU district Office for invoicing to WFP. - Document all damages or losses of the food commodities and timely report to WFP. - Produce logistics report on monthly basis. Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Competencies - Diploma in Community Development, Agriculture, Health, Social Sciences or other relevant disciplines from a recognized institution. - Ability to ride a motorcycle. - Knowledge in computer operations (word and excel) is a must. - Good communication skills and problem solving skills for both staff and communities. - Fluency in spoken and written English and Chichewa. Job Title: Food Distribution Officer (12 positions) Location: Thyolo Duration of the contract: January 2014 to March 2014 Reporting Relationship Supervision received: District Coordinator Supervision exercised: N/A Job Purpose The Food Distribution Officer shall be responsible for all food and cash distribution related activities at the community level. Key Duties and responsibilities - Facilitate community awareness of food and cash distribution program. - Facilitate registration of project participants at village level. - Facilitate distribution of food and cash to ensure that theparticipants get the right quantity of food commodities. - Ensure that ration cards are properly filled and tallied during food distribution - Conduct beneficiary data collection and entry. - Facilitate the identification of food distribution points. - Conduct identification and verification of project participants. - Solve emerging issues and problems at food distribution points. - Work with local leaders(VDC, VHM, GVH, CPC and extension workers) - Compile daily food or cash distribution reports. Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Competencies - Diploma in Community Development, Agriculture, Health, Social Sciences or other relevant disciplines from a recognized institution. - Experience in successful participatory community extension approaches and methodologies. - Good field facilitation skills. - Knowledge in computer operations (word). - Good communication skills and problem solving skills. - Fluency in spoken and written English and Chichewa. Job Title: Food Distribution Monitor (4 positions) Location: Thyolo Duration of the contract: January to March 2014 Reporting Relationship Supervision received: M & E Officer Supervision exercised: N/A Job Purpose The Food Distribution Monitor shall be responsible for monitoring food distributions at final distribution points during each distribution. Key Duties and responsibilities - Facilitate community awareness of food distribution program. - Facilitate registration of project participants at village level. - Monitor the distribution of food to ensure that the participants get the right quantity of food commodities. - Conduct on site food distribution monitoring during each distribution. - Conduct post distribution monitoring to selected beneficiaries at household level. - Ensure that ration cards are properly filled and tallied during food distribution. - Conduct identification and verification of project participants. - Solve emerging issues and problems at food distribution points. - Work with local leaders (VDC, VHM, GVH, and CPC) and extension workers. - Compile daily food distribution monitoring reports.
