Vacancy - Microbiologist - Port Elizabeth Requirements • Matric / Grade 12 • B.Sc degree (Microbiology) / ND in Microbiology • 2 years working experience in a Microbiological Laboratory • Experience with international requirements of GLP / GMP • Experience with Quality Management systems • Testing of Purified Water and / or pharmaceutical product • Preparation & control of media • Aseptic technique • Growth promotion testing of media • Microbial Identification techniques • Microbiological Assays • Maintenance of stock cultures • Reading and interpreting plates • OOS investigations Key Responsibilities Plan work on a daily basis. Plan daily workload to meet laboratory requirements. Check and report resources are checked according to availability Ensure services provided are according to Laboratory Plan Ensure problems are handled efficiently according to quality policy which includes problems associated with processing of assay and environmental results. Carry out tests according to Method of analysis Communicate all deviations to Group Leader. Follow the Laboratory systems in order to comply with relevant industry guidelines and regulations. Perform all Laboratory activities as directed by SOP’s. Ensure that Laboratory SOP’s are handled in accordance with the Facility QMS requirements. Records results in a record book; ensuring that all relevant information is recorded. Ensure accurate calculation and interpretation of results. Ensure results are transferred correctly to the Microbiological record sheets. Check operational outputs against actual; documented and reported. Ensure equipment usage is done in accordance with operating instructions and SOP’s. Test Purified Water in accordance with the Facility procedures and schedules. Report out of trend results and failures immediately. Responsible for the microbiological testing of: Final product (Production, stability and process validation) Intermediate product Raw materials for quality assurance purposes. Ensure that sampling and testing for Environmental, Purified water are done in accordance with approved sampling and test methods and according to approved schedules. Ensure sampling and testing is done in accordance with approved protocols and schedules. Perform identification of Bacteria, Fungi and Moulds when found Ensure Out of Specification (OOS) and corrective/preventative actions are actioned in accordance with SOP’s. Repeat Analysis to be kept to minimum. Participate in all training interventions as identified by management. Meet Housekeeping standards Ensure GMP/GLP status of laboratory is maintained Ensure contribution to audits ensures a satisfactory outcome. Ensure SOP’s are available and utilized, identifies and communicates required changes to Manager. Ensure documents and reports are completed in an accurate and disciplined manner and checked by Laboratory Quality Release Clerk Communicate advanced training requirements to Group Leader Ensure feedback about outputs are given regularly Assist in problem solving with team members Participate in projects identified Adhere to Good Lab Practice requirements, by strictly following SOP’s Send all applications to [email protected] or fax to 086 500 7949 Non Response within 2 weeks indicates an unsuccessful application
