Vacancy: Investigative Assistant The U.S. Embassy in Bishkek Deadline: 26 July, 2013 The U.S. Embassy in Bishkek is seeking an individual for the position of Administrative Assistant in the Drug Enforcement Agency. Basic function of position As an Investigative Assistant, incumbent reports directly to the Country Attaché for the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and provides criminal investigative expertise, performs activities as required by the third party countries and/or host country counterparts, advise and technical assistance to both DEA and foreign law enforcement agencies in matters relating directly to the immobilization of illicit narcotics and dangerous drug trafficking. Establishes and maintains contacts with host government law enforcement and narcotics officials. Coordinates investigations with U.S. and international law enforcement officials when needed. Prepares investigative reports and responds to inquiries from U.S. Law enforcement agencies. Advises the U.S. DEA representative of local laws and protocol. Supervises and assists in the preparations of official police documents for presentations in courts of law, both U.S. and host country, and to ensure legal compliance of evidence in order to present criminal cases against narcotics traffickers. Day-to-day overall coordination of work is provided by the DEA Country Attaché. Qualifications required All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item. Education: University degree in law, law enforcement, international relations or political science is required. Experience: A minimum of three years of experience in police service, military, law enforcement, investigative, or international organizations with police liaison activity is required. Familiarity with U.S. Government operations is required.. Languages: Level III (good working knowledge) of English and Russian and Level II (limited knowledge) of Kyrgyz are required. Proficiency in reading, writing and speaking in English, Russian and Kyrgyz languages to carry out functions of Investigative Assistant. (Language proficiency will be tested.)2 of 5 Knowledge: Must have an understanding for the political system of host country and be knowledgeable of police methods, techniques and systems, and hierarchy.
