Vacancy No : UNICEF/Sudan/2014/035 Post Title : Child Protection Officer - Information Management Contract type : Temporary Appointment TA Proposed level : NOB Duration : 364 Days (Max.) Duty Station : Khartoum (with frequent travel to the field). Supervisor : Child Protection Sector Coordinator MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Support the Child Protection Sub Sector and other coordination meetings in aspects related to information management: Help prepare agendas and compile relevant presentations/information materials shared by the sector partners Prepare and maintain sector meeting minutes and registration sheets Maintain updated contact list(s) of partners, focal points, donors, and other parties interested Identify the information to be saved in the Knowledge Management bank / document repository Coordinate with the Child Protection Sub Sector Coordinator to ensure efficient documentation of response to emergencies and activities within the Sudan Humanitarian Work Plan, including for sector activities funded by CHF and CERF 2. Strengthen management of information databases and systems: Help develop and maintain sector databases (e.g. partner activity, regular reporting, emergency response etc.) Collect and summarize UNICEF and partners’ periodic reporting information When relevant, work with the sector lead agency and/or government, to make updates to the sector databases to reflect changes in humanitarian needs Support training of sector members, government, and humanitarian partners on capacity building and knowledge management, with particular focus on ensuring coordination with the State level Child Protection Working groups, National Council of Child Welfare and State councils of Child Welfare Focal Point. Regular support and capacity building for IM at the State level 3. Produce and maintain relevant information products including Child Protection Sub sector information reports, databases, basic and thematic maps, and support the preparation of periodic reports on sector activities at national and state level as required: Support consolidated documentation of sector resource mobilization and activities including CHF, CERF, etc. Support the sector lead to work with OCHA for the development of relevant maps, tables, charts of sector needs and response activities, including maintaining and further developing the Child Protection Sub Sector database on the 4Ws with production of maps and other visual products. Participate in the development of a CP quarterly Bulletin Draft narrative summaries of sector progress against key indicators. Ensure support to Child Protection Sub sector through timely updates and status reports of education core pipeline supplies Provide support and information to partners/government staff on information databases, tools and reports. Ensure regular input and updates are provided to the Child Protection Sub Sectors’ online Humanitarian Response website with relevant dashboard updates, resources on education in emergencies, meeting information, and contact lists MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS At least University Degree in Social Science, Public Health and relevant field such as Sociology, , political science, humanitarian affairs, information technology, communication or any other relevant area. At least 2 years of professional experience in a similar role - experience in the field in emergency context preferred with an emphasis information and data management and monitoring and evaluation. Good knowledge of Child Protection in emergencies and sector coordination, with an understanding of CP Minimum Standards for Child Protection in Emergency preferred. Demonstrated skills in effective information management and use of computer applications (access and excel, and other databases), with knowledge on GIS and mapping software (including ArcGIS, etc.) Proven statistical, analytical, and technical skills, with the ability to logically present information in charts, maps, tables and graphs Excellent communication and presentation skills Fluency in Arabic Excellent written and spoken English.
