Vacancy: Rugby Union Coach - Casual contract covering Regents Park School, Oasis School RFU & Hampshire RFU Schools Development Programme 2012-2015 The Rugby Football Union (RFU) in conjunction with Hampshire Rugby Union is looking to appoint Rugby Union coaches, for a schools delivery project that will start in November 2012 and continue through to 2015. The objective is to deliver high quality Rugby coaching in to Regents Park and Oasis schools in Southampton (Hampshire) The coaches will work under the leadership of the RFU Rugby Development Officer and will be mentored by RFU Community Rugby Coach (Sharon Evans & Dean Lewis New) Applicants should be qualified to RFU coaching award level 2, they need to demonstrate a commitment to working in an educational environment, and possess the delivery skills needed to foster emerging players and those new to the game. The links with Millbrook RFC is essential in meeting the objectives of this project. To that end part of the applicant’s responsibilities will be to maintain a mutually beneficial relationship between school and club, and a commitment to develop that partnership whenever possible. Responsibilities will include delivery of rugby in curriculum time, organisation and management of after school clubs or breakfast clubs, matches with other schools, support coaching at Millbrook RFC and half term Rugby camps, usually hosted by the Rugby club/s in the schools locality. Schools coach, roles and responsibilities. Reporting to: RFU Rugby Development Officer & line managed by the project lead (Community Rugby Coach). Key Relationships: Rugby Development Officer, (RDO), Community Rugby Coach (CRC) Teachers, (Head of PE) Local Rugby clubs, Club Coach Coordinator (CCC) Responsibilities 1. To deliver high quality coaching, to children in age groups specified by the RDO in partnership with the club and schools 2. To work with and develop teachers and young leaders associated with the schools and project in all things Rugby related. 3. To organise and assist with the delivery of regular and appropriate Rugby Union competitive opportunities. 4. To prepare work plans and progress reports as requested by the RDO and their project lead. 5. Take a professional approach to the planning, preparation, and delivery of training sessions as is commensurate with a Level 2 coach. 6. To exercise a duty of care, in the health safety, and welfare of all those participating in the project. 7. Keep and make available, records of attendance, making sure all those participating have an awareness of data protection policies. 8. Record all incidences of injury, inappropriate behaviour etc, in line with RFU/school reporting procedures. 9. Undertake any other necessary and relevant duties under the direction of the RDO or their project lead. 10. To advance, uphold and engender the core values of Rugby Union at all times, to all those involved in the project. Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline, Sportsmanship. Accountabilities The person in post is accountable for; 1. The delivery of high quality, safe and enjoyable coaching and training sessions. 2. Monitoring all equipment and resources connected with the project, to ascertain safety, wear and tear, functionality. 3. Report activity as requested by the RDO and their project lead 4. Comply at all times with RFU policies and procedures that are relevant to RFU casual workers 5. Maintain professional standards and the promotion of those standards throughout the community. Working Hours These will be dependent on the needs of the 2 schools and the projects designed to fit these needs. It is envisaged there will be an hourly rate of £20-25 depending on level of experience. (This includes travel / mileage) Any hours are mainly but not exclusively during term time.
