Vacancy for General Ophthalmologist for Community Eye Care Programme in Nigeria The Chanrai Group, one of the most respected expatriate groups in Nigeria and having presence in manufacturing, trading, financial investments and development is looking for a General Ophthalmologist for the development organization. Tulsi Chanrai Foundation (TCF) was registered in 1992 by the Chanrai family and other associates with the aim to alleviate poverty through its programs in the eye care, primary health care and drinking water. TCF Programs: TCF has three programs in Nigeria: Mission for Primary Health Care Mission for Vision Mission for Water Vision : Every Nigerian should have access to Primary Health Care, Safe Drinking Water and Eye Care. Mission : Establish in partnership high quality, sustainable, replicable models in primary health care, provision of safe drinking water and eye care in each of the 6 geo-political zones of Nigeria. Tulsi Chanrai Foundation (TCF), the development organization of the Chanrai Group, has over the last 20 years provided healthcare to the rural Nigerians. TCF has 5 eye centers in Nigeria which provide surgical eye care and performs 15000 free eye surgeries annually. A super-specialty 100 bed commercial eye hospital is being planned in Abuja which will perform 10000 surgeries annually. It is the largest single provider of surgical Eye care in Africa and enjoys the support and concessions from the Federal and State Government. The Foundation for its future expansion plans would like to recruit General Ophthalmic Surgeons for the Community Eye Care Programs in Nigeria. Qualification & Experience: Ophalmologists with MS/DNB/FRCS or equivalent qualifications with a minimum 3 years of sound clinical & comprehensive experience in Ophthalmology and proficient in SICS. Candidates with additional training/Fellowship in Phacoemulsification, Glaucoma and Pediatric Ophthalmology will be preferred. The Candidate will get a chance to independently exhibit good clinical and surgical skills as each centre will have an out patient load of 200 patients/ week and a surgical load of 75 surgeries. The person will have the professional freedom to perform with modern equipments and adequate support staff. He/She will also be involved with the training programmes of the local ophthalmic personnel.
