Vacancy with SPC - Fisheries Development Officer Economics The position of Fisheries Development Officer (Economics) encompasses the following major functions: 1. Economic evaluation of fisheries and aquaculture development projects Undertakes and contributes to economic assessments of fisheries, aquaculture and climate change adaptation development projects, proposals or businesses. Liaises with PICT fisheries administrations and the private sector to keep abreast of developments and aspirations and assists the Nearshore Fisheries Development Section to build these into its work programme. Monitors regional and global trends in coastal fisheries and aquaculture to identify emerging opportunities. 2. Resource materials, advice and training Provides advice, technical assistance and training in different areas of economic analysis of projects and business opportunities. Assists entrepreneurs in the development and management of small and medium enterprises through training and mentoring. Contributes to the production of the section’s resource materials including technical manuals, information and training packages and reports. Contributes to the development of surveys and data collection systems for fisheries and/or aquaculture enterprises. 3. Inter-agency networking and cross-sectoral collaboration Develops and promotes joint projects with other regional and international organisations to draw on the strengths of all involved. Facilitates collaboration with other sections within SPC on issues such as food security, livelihoods, climate change, gender equality, etc. 4. Section administration and communication Assists the Adviser to develop annual work plans and reports for the section that are consistent with FAME’s strategic plan. Maintains up to date corporate and administrative procedures for all activities undertaken. Contributes where applicable to programme, divisional and corporate publications and activity reports.
