Vacation: real or virtual What if I told you about our wonderful vacation to Florida this past month. I gave you all the details, the white sands, the blue water. I could show you pictures of the sand castles and us throwing frisbees on the beach. This is what I call " Virtual." You were not there, but you kinda get the picture of what it was like. But what if you were with us! What if you had sand between your toes, maybe even had a little sunburn. You played in the water, enjoyed floating on the air mattress This is what I call "Real." WHICH WOULD YOU PREFER? Me too!!! I want to be there! I want sand between my toes! I (kinda) want a little sunburn! I want to build a sand castle! Is your walk with the Lord real or virtual? One of my favorite bible stories is when Peter walks on water. "When the disciples saw him walking on the water, they were terrified. In their fear, they cried out, “It’s a ghost!” But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage. I am here! ” Then Peter called to him, “Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water.” “Yes, come,” Jesus said. So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he shouted. Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him. “You have so little faith,” Jesus said. “Why did you doubt me?” (Matthew 14:26-31 NLT) Peter experience was REAL!!! The other disciples experience was VIRTUAL!! Peter could tell them what it was like while the others could just tell what it looked like. They got the postcard !! Peter got the trip!! The disciples were afraid. What are you afraid of? Jesus said to them, " Take courage. I am here!" What is Jesus wanting you to trust him with? Jesus said, "Yes, come." What is Jesus calling you to do, today? Will your experience be virtual or real? Will you get the postcard, or will you get the real trip? Remember, if you decide to step out of the boat, Jesus is ALWAYS there to catch you when you fall. Ken Box May the grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s holy people. (Revelation 22:21 NLT)
