Vagabonds Play Fundraiser to help Philippines Relief Effort VANCOUVER – The Vagabonds, Vancouver’s popular Irish band will hold an important fundraiser at the Fan Club in downtown Vancouver on June 6. The fundraiser is in aid of the relief work to help rebuild Tacloban, which was destroyed following the devastating Typhoon Hiyan. Dave Beecher from Youghal, Co. Cork is a childhood friend of Mick Mulcahy of the Vagabonds. He and his new bride Dagmara are in the Philippines working to help restore the city. Dave lived in Vancouver for the past five years and this is where he met his wife Dagmara. They were married in Bali last November and planned to travel extensively after their wedding. Instead, they went to the Philippines to volunteer with Dave’s friends who are working for International Disaster Volunteers (IDV), a volunteer-led disaster response charity. They are working in close partnership with Filipino organizations to help communities rebuild and recover. Because of the terrible devastation recovery from Haiyan will take years. The Vagabonds invite everyone to come out and enjoy a great hooley on June 6 and help raise funds to send to Dave Beecher and his friends in the Philippines who are working so hard to help rebuild that devastated area. For more information: e-mail: [email protected] or go to the Vagabonds website at vagabondsbc.
