Vale – Peter Brereton OIC – Shepparton Fire Brigade / D 22 Operations Officer Peter Brereton From the Chief Officer On behalf of Chief Executive Officer, Mick Bourke and myself, it is with absolute sadness that I advise of the tragic and untimely death of OIC – Shepparton / D 22 Operations Officer Peter Brereton as a result of an aircraft accident. Peter was a trusted, respected and valued member of the CFA for more than 39 years. Our deepest sympathies go out to Peter’s wife, Lyn, and their children, Marianne, Natalie, Kate, David and Michael and their families. Peter joined CFA in 1974 spending the last 27 years within Hume region within D 12 and 22. Peter’s family is currently receiving support and I ask that you respect their privacy at this time. Funeral arrangements will be advised. Euan Ferguson Chief Officer From CFA Hume Region Peter Brereton was a much respected senior CFA staff member and volunteer of over 39 years standing. He was enjoying long service leave pending his retirement and was not on CFA business when he was tragically killed. He was a well-respected and active member of the Euroa community and a member of the church. Peter was widely known and respected throughout much of North Eastern Victoria and beyond and we recognise that his many friends and colleagues will be distressed by this tragic loss. Peter died doing something he loved; he had a passion for flying and was an experienced pilot who had flown extensively across Australia. His wife Lyn and his children Marianne, Natalie, Kate, David and Michael and their partners Sonny, Tané, Emma and Nicole have gathered with other family members and close friends at this time to grieve their loss and give thanks for his life.
