Vallejo, CA is not an out of the way city, it is not a small town, but their animal shelter looks like something you would find out in the desert or some other lonely far away place. This shelter needs help. They need everything, they need volunteers, they need fosters, they need a commercial sized electric washer and dryer, dog and cat food, etc. They have 20 outdoor kennels that are not protected from the elements. They have 26 small indoor kennels. Their buildings are trailors and need replacing. Many of the dogs and cats do not have an id or description posted. The indoor kennels have small dogs and puppies, they have a sick German Shepherd in a office by himself, they do not have a sanitary room for sick animals. Because they do not have enough volunteers many things do not get done quickly like washing out the kennels inside and outside kennels the smell of feces is horrendous. There are dogs in crates outside. There are many purebred dogs and 57 heinz dogs all gorgeous and need help now. There is a tiny puppy in one of the indoor kennels that needs a foster or rescue he is probably less than 8 weeks old and he is all by himself. I have asked for help for this shelter a number of times. They have a new director she is trying to make some positive changes but she needs the publics help. If you have clean old towels and blankets I can pick them up or if you can bring them that would be great they are open 11-5 Tuesday through Sunday.
