Vancouver painter Molly Lamb Bobak, one in the first generation of Canadian women to earn a living through her art, has died. She would have been in her 90s. She painted crowd scenes. This one is called The Rink. She was also the first Canadian woman to be sent overseas as a war artist. This evening on the phone, having heard of her death, my mother asked me to look up her up on the computer. She and my mother went to the Vancouver School of Art together where they both studied under renowned Canadian painter Jack Shadbolt. My mother said Molly was very funny.
