Vanguard exclusively gathered that, attempt by Amosun to foist some of his loyalists including 13 members of the House of Assembly who were seeking second term on the party was being vehemently resisted by some aspirants who reportedly vowed to scuttle the chance of the party in the coming election. It was reliably gathered that, the governor had single- handedly chose some of his loyalists, the action, which did not go down well with some aspirants of the party. A reliable source from the party told Vanguard that, strong oppositions have been mounted against the 13 loyalists of the governor by some aspirants who reportedly challenged the governor to allow a level playing field during the primaries. Findings have shown that, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Suraju Adekumbi, who came from Yewa North 1 state constituency, had five persons jostling for his seat from his area. The Speaker was said to have been chosen by the governor following his loyalty to him, but, many of his people in the area were said to have ganged up against his ambition. Vanguard reliably gathered that, in a bid to scuttle the second term ambition of the Speaker, five aspirants were said to have reached a consensus to choose one of them to contest the primaries against the Speaker. It was also gathered that, former Deputy Chief of Staff to the governor, Shuaib Salisu who was vying for Senate from Ogun Central reportedly called the bluff of the governor over his attempt to foist another aspirant on the party. Salisu was said to have insisted that, the governor should allow all the aspirants to show their popularity on the field during the party’s primaries. The governor has also reportedly dropped the alleged candidate of the former President Olusegun Obasanjo, for another candidate. It was gathered that, Obasanjo had endorsed the candidature of former House of Representatives, Bode Mustapha for Senate from Ogun central on the platform of the APC, but, was later ditched by the governor for his loyalist. Meanwhile, there is a strong indication that there may be exodus from APC to the Social Democratic Party in the state.
