Variety is a great spice, right? So after Zanzibar I went to a northern Tanzanian beach town of Tanga. I might have to blog about that later as the pictures dont do justice to my bizarre night there on a bicycle tour with a local guide, which ended in the corrupt political partys free concert. After Tanga I spent time in the Usambara mountains. Yep, I hadnt heard of them either before this trip, but they were serene and beautiful (admittedly Im one of the weirdos who actually prefers mountains to beaches), and have a lot of endemic plants and animals. I stayed in a basic but lovely guesthouse. The first picture with a sunrise is from my terrace. Then I went on a 6 hour hike with other travelers in the same guesthouse, got wet on the way, saw chameleons, walked though a rainforest and many mountain villages and tasted sugarcane beer with the locals. What a fresh start to 2015! Nest stop, after more buses, a safari....
