Variety is the spice of life... Day 41 - Tip 41 Humans have developed from eating a vast variety of foods. Today however most people eat the same foods day in day out. This is not the way to do it. Different foods provide us with different nutrients and this is especially true for fruits and vegetables. Different plants provide us with different essential nutrients and minerals. By consuming an array of different fruits and veggies you will not only get a better variety of nutrients but also limit your chances of acquiring food intolerances. The unique combinations of vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals found in fruits and veggies work synergistically to maximise the health benefits to our bodies. For this reason I urge you to eat the biggest variety possible, the more you do this the balanced your body will become. Not all are created equal and a few general rules are the deeper the colour, the more antioxidants the fruit or veggie will provide, and in general above the ground veggies have a lower glycemic index than below the ground veggies.
