Vasai 6-yr-old blinded in one eye - for a few biscuits A six-year-old boy in Nalla Sopara has lost vision in his left eye after being struck with a catapult by his 10-year-old friend - for the sake of a few biscuits. While the victim has been admitted to a Vasai hospital and is to be operated upon, the accused minor will be sent to a remand home. The incident happened on Tuesday afternoon, when Sunny Singh, a resident of Kargil Nagar in the Santosh Bhuvan area of Nalla Sopara (E), was returning home from a shop where he had gone to buy some biscuits. Near his home, Sunny, a Std III student of Gupta Hindi School, was accosted by his friend Harsh Mishra, a Std VI student of the same school. Harsh demanded some of the biscuits, which Sunny refused to share. This angered Harsh, and in a fit of rage he whipped Sunny across the face with a catapult he was holding. Unfortunately, a nail that was sticking out on the V of the catapult pierced Sunnys left eye. Hearing his cries of pain, Sunnys relatives who were nearby rushed to the spot. They took him to the closest dispensary, and then admitted him to Sanjeevani Hospital at Vasai (W). Adoctor at the Vasai hospital who requested anonymity said, The nail pierced Sunnys left eye and completely shattered it. Once the external wound heals, we will operate on the boy and try to restore some vision in the damaged eye. His vision will never be normal again, but hopefully we might be able to restore at least 10 per cent vision. Meanwhile, a complaint has been filed against the accused at the Nalla Sopara Police Station. We have registered a complaint against Harsh Mishra, PI Mukund Mahajan told Mirror. He will be sent to the Childrens Remand Home at Bhiwandi on Thursday. Mahajan added.
