Vassar College, are you kidding me? Vassar student running for - TopicsExpress

Vassar College, are you kidding me? Vassar student running for 6th District county seat Seth Warner, 21, is running for the 6th District Town of Poughkeepsie seat on the Dutchess County Legislature in November, according to a news release. The district runs along the eastern side of the town and is now represented by Republican Legislator Angela Flesland, who is assistant majority leader. Warner is a senior at Vassar College, where he studies political science. In announcing his candidacy Thursday at the home of town Democratic Committee member Harvey Frankel, he called himself the underdog. Warner urges greater civic engagement, a stronger commitment to zero-waste initiatives, and measures that reduce jail recidivism and support at-risk youths. He criticized the plan to expand the county jail. NOT SATISFIED WITH A COURT VICTORY GRANTING VASSAR STUDENTS THE RIGHT TO VOTE IN LOCAL ELECTIONS, Vassar is putting up a 21-year-0ld student to run for County Legislature! The disproportionate influence that Vassar College has over Town Business (granted through NY State) is no longer inferred, it is official. (Remember NYS Highway Department reconstructing Raymond Avenue and installing European Roundabouts in front of Vassar DESPITE the Town’s objections?) TOWN RESIDENTS in the 6th district need to VOTE THIS NOVEMBER for Angela Flesland! If not to support Angela, then to show that Poughkeepsie Residents run this town, not Vassar College!.
