Vegan Pizza! Who doesnt love pizza and what do you do for pizza when you go vegan?? Vegans do not eat or utilize any animal products so no meat, dairy or eggs. So here is how I satisfy the pizza urge without the cheese and meat. I assemble my own pizza starting with a store bought crust, but if you are really ambitious, try making your own crust. Tonight I used a Flatout artisan thin pizza crust, spicy Italian. The bag contains 6 crusts with 130 calories per crust so you can eat a whole one yourself!! This crust was very tasty and baking time is only 6 minutes total. Im not crazy about all the ingredients, preferring to use organic, but wheat is not GMO yet, I dont think, and the sugar and soybean oil is minimal. I do hate using any product with those 2 ingredients however because they are sure to be GMO but until I find some organic crusts, this one was low in fat, has 6g of protein and only 21 effective carbs. I am mindful of carbs in refined grains because they do make you fat. Carbs from veggies and fruits dont trigger insulin like refined grains and sugars do. So then I topped my crust with a store bought pizza sauce...read the labels if you want to avoid fat and sugar and other undesirable ingredients. For toppings...I used onions, green and red bell peppers, olives, mushrooms and thawed frozen organic spinach. I then sprinkled with a spicy blend of spices. It was very tasty and I didnt miss the cheese and meat at all. If you can think of other toppings throw them on like artichoke hearts, pimentos, pineapple, garlic, tomatoes....etc. I ate the whole pizza lol, but the crust size was like a half pizza size and when you dont have the meat and cheese you can pig out and still keep the calories low!!! I am sure the whole thing was only about 300 to 350 calories! flatoutbread/products/thin-crust-artisan-pizza/
