Vegetarianism can be a great lifestyle, i was one for 7 years (6-7 months of which were vegan), and I am still very against factory farming or mistreatment, but my main criticism of it is the idea that if you arent eating meat you are negating the death involved in food. Other than fruits and nuts there are almost no foods that dont require death or enslavement to be harvested. I work on an organic farm that has no animals, just produce, and we have to kill snails, squirrels, birds, worms, more bugs than you can count, and of course the vegetables that die when you harvest them, in order for humans to get there fruits and veggies. My point is, what is important is eating QUALITY food. It is better to eat quality meat made in your area than GMO vegetables. And if you are a vegetarian, but eat cheese produced by low quality companies, you are supporting the same misery, in ways it is worse because the cows are drained of there milk without mercy until they drop dead. Just because a potato makes no sound doesnt mean it doesnt suffer. P.S. Just because cats and dogs are cute doesnt make there lives worth more than that of a pig, cow, chicken, fish etc etc etc. (dont get me wrong, cows and fish and pigs and chickens are all cute as well)
