Venting and sounding like a broken record: The Chinese Crested - TopicsExpress

Venting and sounding like a broken record: The Chinese Crested standard, although vague in many areas, specifically states that the crest is supposed to be ON THE HEAD AND NECK!!! NOT on the shoulders and back - thats shoulder and back hair - not a crest. What part of this is unclear? ideally, crest beginning at stop tapering off down neck. Crest itself may flow to any length, a long and flowing crest preferred, but sparse acceptable. Those dogs with hair all the way down on the shoulders and back are very hairy hairless, those dogs with a sparse crest are true or minimally hairless. What about the socks? some almost to the elbows??? what is unclear about this?: Socks ideally confined to toes, but not extending above top of pastern. Ok so the standard does not state shaving is not permissible... thats fine however it DOES state where the crest and socks should end... For those who are new to this breed, the trend of leaving shoulder hair is from Europe it seems... I have no idea why this started. The crest should stop at the withers. Read the standard for crying out loud!
