Ventured out on the Yaks with my brother yesterday after some Big Brissy River Bass and it didnt let us down, well one of us anyway. Barometer at 1022 and a possible arvo storm on the cards had a good feeling the big girls would be biting. Got to the spot on 4:30am launched around 5 and started the day off. Was a lot of surface action early but only managed the one on the Sammy 65 Surface Walker before we changed up and headed downstream. Began working the Adrenalinfish Blackjacks and Spinnerbaits on the abundance of snags before us and it wasnt long before I landed a nice little guy on the Blackjack. 2 little guys on the board was looking to find that donkey moved right up the river when i got smashed right at the yak winding the lure in fast to recast and it was off. After a hell of a fight on my 1000 reel landed a cracking example of an fat Austrailian Bass, also landed on the Adrenalinfish Blackjack. These Lures are worth their weight in gold. After a few happy snaps she was released very fit and healthy to fight another day. My brother still not landing a fish we decided to bank the Kayaks and head down through a tighter stretch of water find him a fish. On the way to the bank through the Blackjack up against a nice snag and got smashed pulling the bail arm back over giving me the illusion i was busted, realising what had happened flipped the bail arm back to find i was still on but bricked. Fighting the current and a fish i managed to paddle over and get the big girl out, was a heart stopping moment thats for sure, but well worth it. Few pics and she was off. Walked the banks for another hour with my brother hooking up and getting bricked to loose a fish and nothing else. Very frustrating day for him but we all have them they wouldnt call it fishing otherwise, youll get them next time mate.
