Venus Theatre Trivia Did you know?!?!... -21 C Street Laurel, MD houses one of the longest running women’s theatre companies in the world? -Venus Theatre will end 2014 having produced 50 new plays at that location. -All 50 plays have empowered women. -Prior to C Street Venus was known as Venus Envy and led Take Back the Night Marches and workshops at the House of Ruth. -Venus Theatre began officially in 2000 producing Daughters of Molly Maguire in the Warehouse Theatre in DC. That project grew into 3 different plays and has toured the region and is now published in an anthology entitled ANTHRACITE! -Prior to C Street Venus Theatre produced full productions and toured in 5 states. -Venus has a habit of Premiering new scripts that go on to have long afterlives. -Venus receives over 200 play submissions a year from playwrights around the world. -Venus produces four new plays a year. -You can support Venus by purchasing 10 Thursday night tickets for $100.
