Verizon Using Retired Managers to Conduct Safety Checks Verizon - TopicsExpress

Verizon Using Retired Managers to Conduct Safety Checks Verizon is increasing the frequency of safety work observations, safety blitzes and safety ride-alongs by management and the safety organization GEH&S. They have hired retired managers to do the safety checks. This will be occurring statewide. Spread the word that there will be increased scrutiny and observations in the field and that everyone should work safely, follow work practices and wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Ask your foreman for the checklist they are using and make sure you have every item on the list. As always, if someone does not have the equipment or tools they need to perform their work safely they should request the equipment or tools from management. Contact your steward, chief steward, business agent or the Local if you encounter any problems in the field. Verizon also announced that the will include red light camera tickets and fire hydrant parking tickets in the Safety Compliance Plan. Drive safely, park legally, and stay alert.
