Vernon Miniard: Vernon Miniard, age 81, of Bledsoe, KY passed away August 28, 2013 in Hazard, KY following a long illness. He was born March 3, 1932 in Leslie Co., KY to the late Bradley and Ethel Turner Miniard. Vernon was a retired coal miner employed by Nally and Hamilton. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He believed in the Christian faith. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers: Russell Miniard, Kilburn Miniard, and Curt Miniard, and a sister, Birdie Stevens. Left to mourn his passing is his wife, Linda Creech Miniard, his children: Marty Steven Miniard and wife, Sue, of Baxter, KY, Russell Miniard and wife, Roberta, of Hulen, KY, Flora Asher and Virgil Wilder of Molus, KY, Tony Miniard and wife, Maudie, of Nolansburg, KY, Paul Miniard of Michigan, Kim Burkhart and husband, Steve, of Bledsoe, KY, Lisa Whitaker and husband, Jimmy, of Bledsoe, KY, Christy Miller and husband, Charlie, of Bledsoe, KY and Randy Miniard and wife, Karen, of Molus, KY; grandchildren: Jonathan, David, Marty, Pam, Melissa, Tracy, Amanda, Angie, Mike, Charles, Samantha, Anthony, Danielle, Alex, Kristy, Kayla, Taylor, Bradley, Austin, Amber, Katie, Randy, Ashley, and Latoyia; 21 great grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren; brothers: Winston Miniard and the late Sue Ellen Miniard of Bedsoe, KY, Wilburn Miniard and wife, Ellen, of Michigan, and Pete Miniard and wife, Norma, of Baxter, KY; sister, Ruth Brittain and husband, Ray, of Somerset, KY and sisters-in-law, Bonnie Miniard of Cookeville, TN and Annie Miniard of Putney, KY; close friends, Randy and Nathan Spreeman, and a beloved pet, Barney. Visitation will be Friday, August 30, 2013 from 5 to 9PM at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home. Funeral will be Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 11AM in the chapel of Mount Pleasant Funeral Home with the Reverends Ken Smith and Bud Brock officiating.
