Verse of the Day June 9, 2013 Heart echo Psalm 122:6 (ERV) Pray for peace in Jerusalem: “May those who love you find peace.” Known as the “City of Gold,” Jerusalem is both modern and ancient, Jewish and Arab, religious and secular. The walled Old City, with more than 4,000 years of history, contains some of the holiest places of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam—the Temple Mount with the Dome of the Rock and the El Aksa Mosque atop it, the Western Wall, and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Most of all, Jerusalem is a central focus of Scripture, the site of major future Biblical events, and a place we’re told to remember in prayer. Perhaps you’ve been to the Holy Land or Jerusalem, or long to go there someday. Until then, you can take yourself to this most precious of cities spiritually every day by interceding for its diverse peoples and for its divine purpose to be realized. Let the words of the Israeli national anthem echo in your heart as you pray: “In The Jewish heart / A Jewish spirit still sings / And the eyes look east / Toward Zion. Our hope is not lost / Our hope of two thousand years / To be a free nation in our land / In the land of Zion and Jerusalem.” Lord, I’m grateful for the command of today’s verse and answer the call to intercede. May Your peace reign and Your will be done for Jerusalem and its people. Amen. Amen!♥
