Very concerning news. ADHD can be properly diagnosed and treated in school-age children, and the medications are quite safe and effective in that population with proper supervision, but we would not advocate using these medications for toddlers. After all, we expect normal toddlers to have a limited attention span and high level of activity. This is not ADHD; it is normal development. Toddlers with excessive behavior problems should be assessed, but stimulant medication is not the solution.
