Very critical points that our society should focus on were well analyzed by Dr.Sanyi. As the physician approaches the illness from diagnosis first, Dr.Sanyi outlined the 7 major problems that our people facing for century and then he suggests what should be the treatment. I have reservation on the religion influence on Oromumma he mentioned though. Of course Orthodox Christian Oromo have been marginalized and the identity of Oromoness denigrated to the extent the word galla (Oromo) has been inserted by Abyssinian as the most evil subhuman in pre-1974 Ethiopian Orthodox Christian Bible despite large number of Oromo follow this religion. Oromo has never had been anointed as Patriarch as if this right reserved only for Amara and Tigre. Even local Qes appointed for Oromo from Northern Part of the country. This played significant role on our people psychological make up although Oromo has never surrender. The part I disagree with Dr,Sanyi is that Muslims, Protestants, Catholic (to some extent) have never faced what Orthodox Christian Oromo faced. As I witness coming from Muslims background, I have never seen non-Oromo Imam in Mosque, non-Oromo Ulema (scholars) in my birth area. In fact, although islamic literature written in Arabic, all lecture in rural Oromia is given in Afan Oromo. There are even primary literatures that support how Oromo sheikh modified Arabic alphabet and changed to Oromo so that it may suit their mother tongue. There were well known Oromo Muslims Scholars that prominently contributed for Oromo National Conscious Movement such as Sheikh Bakri Saphalo, Dr,Mohammed Rashad, Hajji Adam Sado, Hajji Hussein Surra etc. Similar to Muslims Oromo, Catholic and Protestants have been tried to preach the religion in Afan Oromo despite in urban area they were forced to give sermon and prayer in Abyssinian language. Particularly, protestant struggled so much to use Afan Oromo. That is why we have seen influential religious leader such us Qes Gudina who profoundly contributed for Ormummaa. By the way, there were also siginificant numbers of Oromo among followers of Orthodox Christian who withstand the Abyssinian religious subjugation and emerged as national hero for Oromo people. Catholic also allowed Afan Oromo to be used for religious service to some extent. I still remember in small village where I came from there is small Catholic Church built by the missionary. I hear the religious service given by Afan Oromo, the bible written in Afan Oromo although the qubee was not standardized in current curricular forms.
