Very disappoined that megabus decided that the best that the could do to compensate me for a horrible experience on New Years Eve was a future ride, despite my alerting them during the call that I had no plans to use them in the future if there were alternatives without a refund. So heres my Tale of Woe. 1) Only good fares from DC to New York on the 31st had me on the bus at midnight. So the best option was a $30 fare out of DC at 11:59PM that made it impossible for me to attend a Watchnights Service. 2) They sent a broken bus that had mechanical issues due to air pressure in the air bags. Apparently, their double decker buses have to lower to get into Union Station which requires deflation and then inflation of the air bags. When the air bags wouldnt inflate properly, the bus had to be shut down on H St. NE mere blocks away from Union Newark Penn Station. 3) The replacement bus didnt have enough gas so they had to drive us to their Megabus Dept in Cheverly, which added time to the trip and required us to get another bus. 4) When we got to Philly 90 minutes late, streets were closed for New Years Eve/Day and our driver required reroutes and assistance from a passenger to get out of Philly because he was driving a run he wasnt familiar with. 5) Wi-fi didnt work well on the bus according to a fellow passenger. The best they can do is a free future trip? Well, this costs them nothing because they arent getting much of my business going forward. Why not refund me at least $30, acknowledge your failure and keep me as a customer? Why drive me to get mad and start letting people know that Bolt Bus is a better option to Newark and probably NYC too coming from DC and cant have worse #customerservice. Oh, and about that free trip. Dont be surprised if I take a one way bus down to Viera to see my Washington Nationals for Spring Training. It will be worth much more than $30 and Ill probably take Amtrak or Greyhound back because nowadays I wont be sacrificing that much with a one way ticket and I wont be taking Megabus unless its a very, very cheap fare thats no more than 75% of its competitors.
