Very excited for tomorrows cleanup at Lincoln Park. For anyone that hasnt visited in the last 2 weeks, you will be amazed at the progress that the town and volunteers have already made. The weather is expected to be cloudy, but luckily it seems the rain front holds off til late afternoon. Some details: coffee, hot cocoa, donuts, bagels, muffins and bottled water will be served from 8 am on, with the cleanup from 9 am - Noon. Big thank you to Justin Duquette at the Quincy Ave and Weymouth Landing Dunkin Donuts, and Marylous Coffee for their very generous donations. At Noon, Marias pizza will be served, courtesy of Mayor Sullivan. Tools and gloves will be available, but highly encourage anyone to bring their own loppers, clippers, rakes, gloves etc. There are the 3 main teams, so consider what works best for you! The first team, led by School Committee member Lisa Fiske Heger and Councilor-at-Large Shannon Dooley Hume will tackle the upper and lower fields. Raking, picking up trash, sweeping and cleaning the playground area. The second team led by Councilor Michael Owens will build a trail, leading from the basketball court to Oakland and Beech streets. Bring those loppers! Team 3 led by Braintree Conservation Planner Kelly Phelan and Fore River Watershed Associations Robert Kearns will tackle the invasive Japanese Knotweed at the park entrances on Beech St and Oakland. Also an opportunity in this area to landscape some mulch piles to let native species take root in 2015. This is going to be an exciting and fun community event, and Im looking forward to seeing many old friends, and meeting new ones! https://facebook/events/1459622620956882/?ref_dashboard_filter=upcoming
