Very exciting weekend! After 7 years of planning our Proton Therapy unit is finally arriving at the Willis Knighton Cancer Center in Shreveport. Our facility will become one of 12 sites in America offering Proton therapy for cancer and the FIRST SITE IN THE WORLD to offer image-guided Pencil Beam Scanning Proton Therapy in a compact unit. A gigantic crane will place the massively heavy cyclotron in the treatment vault Saturday am at 9:00. Many wii come watch. This is a huge accomplishment for Shreveport and should lead to tremendous improvements in patient care and reduced side-effects. Hundreds of people have been involved in making this day a reality.
