Very glad to have joined my friends and colleagues including US Congressman Matt Cartwright; County Commissioner Patrick OMalley; State Representatives Marty Flynn and Eddie Day Pachinski in acknowledging the importance of Labor Day and to stand with leaders and union members from the region in celebrating the gains achieved for the working class through fair and proper collective bargaining. Family sustaining wages; retirement security; workplace safety -- these are some of the important achievements that must be defended and sustained. On Labor Day we are reminded that hard work must be appreciated and fairly rewarded and that equal opportunity, civility and dignity must prevail as we work to grow our regions economy and improve the quality of life for all families in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
