Name of the Project: The Brown-Janaagraha Citizenship Index The Brown/Janaagraha Citizenship Index Project Description: Janaagraha, a Bangalore based not-for-profit organisation working on increasing the quality of life in urban India, and Brown University, an Ivy League university in Providence, Rhode Island, USA, have formed a ground-breaking partnership to undertake a pioneering study concerning the quality of citizenship in urban India- the Brown-Janaagraha Citizenship Index. Providing the data to understand the quality of citizenship in all its dimensions is the central aim of the Janaagraha- Brown University Citizenship Index study. The Citizenship Index will kick-off in Bangalore, with a survey of 5,000 Bangaloreans. Following the release of these results, the Citizenship Index will be scaled-up to include other major Indian cities to understand the differences between the quality of citizenship across urban India. A study of this magnitude will be the first of its kind in India and promises to offer rich research data and policy applications. Position Description: The primary role of the data management associate will be to review completed Citizenship Index Surveys for errors. Associates will then need to communicate these errors in real-time to field staff. Associates will also be responsible for maintaining a well-organized database in office as well as helping to organize locations and other information needed for the field associates on a daily basis. The full survey will take place during the months of April-August 2013. Qualifications: -Excellent reading, speaking, and writing skills in English (additional fluency in Hindi and/or Kannada preferred) -Experience working with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and generally high computer-literacy -Any Graduates -Compensation:12k to 15k Salary -You will be given a Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) course, which certifies individuals to conduct research involving human subjects.
