Very grateful for the expertise of Jamies - TopicsExpress

Very grateful for the expertise of Jamies cardiologist/electrophysiologist, Dr. Michael Allen, and the competent care of the nurses and staff at Memorial Hospital (Chattanooga, TN) for Jamie during her heart surgery/procedure yesterday. Reminds me of an observation of Eugene Peterson commenting on the plight of the father of the prodigal (paraphrased): Sometimes, all you can do is pray and rely on the care of others God provides for your daughter/sons well-being. It was Jamies determination and brave disposition that led to a proper diagnosis and treatment of a potentially life debilitating heart abnormality — she had to keep insisting even when tests were negative, somethings not right. She was right. When she went to work in the Cardiac Care Unit at Erlanger, she eventually figured out the problem herself. But it was God-given medical gifts, grace, and the wonders of medical technology that corrected the problem. When Jamie awoke, medical staff and the doctor told her, we fixed it. Jamie cried. They reassured, No, we fixed it. Youll be fine. Jamie replied, Im not crying because Im sad. I crying because Im happy. Ive waited a long time to get this fixed. Indeed, she may have saved her own life by refusing to take reassuring missed diagnoses (no criticism intended) for the final word. A lesson there...Shes headed home and its fixed.
