Very instructive illustration of why battlefield drones, and those - TopicsExpress

Very instructive illustration of why battlefield drones, and those used by intelligence organizations will be absolutely useless against a modern military. This plane was piloted by a drug trafficking pilot in Colombia. He was hugging terrain and flying at speeds most drones fly at. He was shot down in flames by a Colombian Air Force Tucano. The Tucano is a piston engined attack/trainer that looks like a holdover from WWII. But, it is a relatively modern aircraft. Sort of a poor-mans A-10 Warthog. Every air force in the world has comparable aircraft to the Tucano, whether piston engined of sub-sonic jets. What you see here can also be accomplished by a Russian Su-25 Frogfoot, or any other subsonic jet or even piston engined planes like the Tucano. As far shooting down drones, you could take a run of the mill Cessna and accomplish this. And, again this plane was piloted by a human. Youll see him react, take evasive maneuvers even after he gets hit the first time. Now, what do you think will happen with a pricey drone, where the pilot is sitting in a cubicle back at the base instead of there and able to see and hear an enemy aircraft line up behind the drone and let her rip?
