Very interesting developments in todays Bye Elections in Southern Province called to replace three councillors who passed away earlier this year. Of course, the one in Moyambas Ward 300, was swept clean by the APC candidate just as we expected. No news there! :-) Now, here is the dramatic development. The 2 other elections were for Bo District councillors. In Constituency 75 of Hon. Helen Kuyembeh who is a very strong backer of Hon. Bernadette Lahai, the SLPP swept the Ward 251 seat as expected BUT in Ward 258 of Constituency 77 of Hon. Alfred Brima Katta, a strong backer of Julius Maada Bio who is also vehemently against Hon. Lahai, an amazing development has happened. The SLPP woefully lost the council seat to the PMDC candidate. Yes, PMDC has defeated SLPP in Bo today. So whilst the APC has maintained its 5 Council seats in the South, the SLPP has reduced its number of councillors. PMDC only had 1 councillor (in Pujehun) prior to today. Now they have defeated SLPP in Bo, they have 2 councillors.
