Very interesting study: The greatest correlation of whether a district will be a Democrat or Republican district is density. A district with population above 800 people per square mile will tend to be democrat. When the density falls below 800 persons per square mile it tends to be republican. The 800 persons per square mile density metric appears to be the tipping point that shifts counties from Red to Blue. The metric of 800 persons per square mile is one person per three quarters of an acre (35,000 square feet).
