Very interesting study funded by NASA and reported by The Guardian. I also spotted (in a much less scientifical way) the repeated trend of human societies to decade after maturity, and wondered what will be the fate of our own, almost planet wide, contemporary society. The high probability risk that this study highlights is that we, as human beings, are inevitably driven by personal, short term interest even when we are rationally aware that the consequences or our behaviors will be extreme and will be paid by our own children or grandchildren.
