Very little known fact about me: I did nearly two years of US Army ROTC. As I did not finish college (the great regret of my life,) i did not earn the commission. I didnt even get to contract. Among the many gifts I did received from my participation is an appreciation for what it takes to lead and succeed in what for many becomes the last full measure of devotion in service to our nation. It was something for which I was not fated, and something for which I look upon those who are with awe for choosing to serve and earning the right to call themselves soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines. In this era where we cant seem to agree on anything, we must remember the few tenuous ties that still bind us as Americans and honor our veterans and those who serve today. What they have inside them is the very best of America. It is on their shoulders the rest of us stand.
